CIBC announces 13 new branches

    Bringing banking closer to where people live, work and shop

    TORONTO, April 3 /CNW/ - CIBC (CM: TSX;NYSE) today announced that 13 new
full service branches will open across Canada by the end of 2009. In the past
six months, CIBC has announced 29 new branches as part of a strategic plan to
build, relocate and expand over 70 new branches across the country by 2011.
    "We are investing in our branch network so that our clients will have
greater flexibility, access and choice to meet their banking needs," said
Sonia Baxendale, Senior Executive Vice-President, CIBC Retail Markets. "Our
clients like the flexibility we offer to bank online, over the phone, at an
ABM or at a nearby branch, and our emphasis is on providing them with a
consistent, high-quality experience no matter how they choose to bank with
us."The 13 new branches will be located at:

    -   Scott and 88th in Surrey, BC;
    -   Kingsway and Acorn in Burnaby, BC;
    -   Capilano Square in North Vancouver, BC;
    -   97th and 162nd in Edmonton, AB;
    -   Hwy 43 and 116th in Grande Prairie, AB;
    -   Dundas and Trafalgar in Oakville, ON;
    -   Spadina and Bremner in Toronto, ON;
    -   Derry and Thompson in Milton, ON;
    -   Centre and Bathurst in Vaughan, ON;
    -   Gordon and Clair in Guelph, ON;
    -   Fischer-Hallman and Westmount in Kitchener, ON;
    -   Belfast and Trainyards in Ottawa, ON; and
