CIBC's total raised hits $3 million to help create a future without breast cancer

Generosity of clients and employees helps reach new benchmark

TORONTO, Nov. 5 /CNW/ - In addition to the $1.4 million that was raised
by CIBC (CM: TSX; NYSE) employees, their family and friends in support of the
2008 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure, CIBC is proud to
announce that contributions from "pink" products reached $1.6 million. The
total contribution of $3 million goes directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer
Foundation.
Pink products were available in CIBC branches across Canada from June to
October 2008 and 100 per cent of the net proceeds went directly to the
Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to support breast cancer research, education
and awareness. This year's line of fundraising products included necklaces,
bank card protectors, dog leashes, car magnets, pink ribbon socks, playing
cards and pink M&M's chocolate candies.
"Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to creating a future
without breast cancer - a goal that is important to all of us," said Sonia
Baxendale, Senior Executive Vice-President, CIBC Retail Markets. "We want to
thank our clients for sharing in this goal and joining with our 13,500
volunteers and members of Team CIBC to make this year's Run such a tremendous
success."
"We are truly grateful to CIBC's employees and its clients who donated
generously to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation through this year's pink
campaign," said Alison J. Youngman, Chair, Foundation national board. "The
funds will support breast cancer research initiatives and relevant education
programs across the country. We thank CIBC for its leadership and its
continuous support; together we are making a difference."
