The John McGivney Children's Centre breaks ground with help from CIBC

WINDSOR, ON, Nov. 5 /CNW/ - CIBC (CM: TSX; NYSE) - Today, the CIBC World
Markets Children's Foundation announced a $250,000 donation to the John
McGivney Children's Centre expansion at the official ground breaking ceremony.
"At CIBC we are very proud to be able to make this contribution to the
John McGivney Children's Centre expansion," said Peter Lee, CIBC Wood Gundy
Regional Director for Eastern Canada. "Many of us have seen the life changing
difference the Centre makes to children in the Windsor-Essex community. The
new facility will allow even more children to have access to the services they
need for a brighter future."
Since 1984, the CIBC World Markets Children's Foundation has raised
$41 million for children in communities across Canada. On December 3, 2008,
CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors and CIBC World Markets trading employees
will once again donate their fees and commissions to children's charities as
part of Miracle Day.
"This is such an exciting day for the Centre and the community," said
Arla Peters, Board President of the John McGivney Children's Centre. "As a
result of the generosity of the CIBC World Markets Children's Foundation, the
Centre will be able to grow and serve more children in our new facility. "The
Board, staff and families of the John McGivney Children's Centre thank the
CIBC World Markets Children's Foundation for this donation."
"When I learned about the tremendous work being done at the Centre, I
knew I had to get involved," said Darren Luck, First Vice-President and
Investment Advisor, CIBC Wood Gundy and board member of the Rotary Foundation
of Windsor. "Each year my colleagues and I are honoured to be able to do our
part for our leaders of tomorrow. CIBC's $250,000 donation to the Centre's
expansion is just one example of the power of Miracle Day."
Each year 2,100 children are served at the Centre. The new John McGivney
facility will continue to provide comprehensive services, including
assessment, treatment, consultation, design and provisions of assistive
devices, education and family services within a multidisciplinary setting.
On the first Wednesday of December every year, CIBC World Markets sales
and trading professionals and CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors help make a
difference for children across the country. On this day, fees and commissions
are donated to support charities dedicated to improving the health, well-being
and education of children. Since its inception in 1984, more than $190 million
has been raised to benefit children in our communities globally.
