CIBC clients and employees raise $250,000 for Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau
Sum represents 67% increase over last year and 30% of Tour's 2009
fundraising goalMONTREAL, July 9 /CNW/ - CIBC, the title sponsor of the 14th Tour CIBC
Charles-Bruneau, is proud to present today the sum of $250,000 that was raised
by the bank's clients and employees for the Fondation Centre de cancérologie
Charles-Bruneau. CIBC has long been committed to the fight against cancer and
this donation by its clients and employees further demonstrates that
commitment.
"We are proud to sponsor and participate in Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau.
Through our support for the Tour, we are making a difference in the lives of
children with cancer," explained Sylvain Vinet, CIBC's Senior Vice-President
of Retail Markets for Eastern Canada. "We firmly believe that together, we can
give hope to these children and to their families."
"The involvement and generosity of CIBC clients and employees has enabled
us to greatly surpass the $700,000 raised in last year's Tour CIBC
Charles-Bruneau," confirmed Pierre Bruneau, spokesman for the Fondation Centre
de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau. "The 2009 Tour is another great success and
it is due to the collaboration of the cyclists and the corporate partners of
the Tour."
Again this year, CIBC Wood Gundy investment advisors Werner Imboden and
Pierre Delisle were among the 25 cyclists who pedaled 600 km around Quebec.
Also joining the peloton from CIBC Wood Gundy this year was Alain Loiseau.
After completing his sixth consecutive Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau today,
Werner Imboden of CIBC Wood Gundy in Montréal said "When we meet our twin, the
magic is there, year after year. This year, Rosalie Baril welcomed me at
Trois-Rivières with stars in her eyes. She's in remission and doing really
well, but that's not the case for all the kids we met over the last four days.
It's for them that we pushed ourselves so hard, so that one day they can grow
cancer-free and enjoy good health."
In the last five years, CIBC has committed more than $23 million to
hospitals and research centres across Canada, including $9 million towards
cancer treatment and research.

CIBC is committed to supporting causes that matter to our clients, our
employees and our communities. We aim to make a difference in communities
through corporate donations, sponsorships and the volunteer spirit of
employees. With a strategic focus on youth, education and health, and employee
commitment to causes including the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run
for the Cure, the CIBC Children's Foundation and United Way, we are investing
in the social and economic development of communities across the country. In
2008, CIBC group of companies contributed more than $36 million worldwide to
charitable and non-profit initiatives. Of this, more than $27 million was
invested in Canada to support national, regional and local organizations. To
