Media Advisory - Investors weigh opportunities, mixed conditions for consumer stocks at CIBC World Markets Conference
NEW YORK, June 26 /CNW/ - CIBC (CM: TSX; NYSE) - CIBC World Markets, a leading provider of services to mid- and small-cap growth companies, has assembled an impressive list of more than 60 presenting companies for its 7th Annual Consumer Growth Conference in Boston July 10-11. The event, considered one of the leading conferences among consumer growth companies, provides a valuable mid-year opportunity for investors to assess the state of the consumer and the outlook for retail, restaurant, hardline and consumer products industries. The markets have been particularly strong over the first half of the year, and investors will be looking to the presenting companies to help assess whether consumer strength will hold into the second half of 2007 in light of mixed conditions which include a slowing housing market, rising interest rates and energy prices. Other topics likely to be of interest to investors include M&A and private equity activity as well as new trends reflective of changing consumer preferences. In addition to executive presentations to investors and analysts, the conference features keynote speaker Marshal Cohen, Chief Industry Analyst from the NPD Group. Cohen is one of the foremost authorities on consumer behaviour, having followed retail trends for more than 30 years.
