CIBC Introduces Free Everyday Banking for Students
No monthly fees or limits on number of monthly transactions - first for major Canadian banks in the student market TORONTO, May 28 /CNW/ - CIBC is making student life easier with its new CIBC Advantage® for Students offer, featuring free everyday banking with no monthly fees and no limit on the number of monthly transactions - a combination that represents a first among the major Canadian banks in the student market. The offer is available beginning June 1, 2008 to full-time students attending an accredited university or college in Canada, including CEGEP. "Free everyday banking means that students no longer need to worry about monthly fees, or keep track of how many transactions they are permitted per month," said Colette Delaney, Senior Vice President of GICs, Deposits and Payments for CIBC. "Students already have enough expenses to deal with, and with CIBC's new student offer, everyday banking doesn't need to be one of them." Students banking with CIBC will benefit from flexibility, access, and choice in their everyday banking. CIBC offers convenient hours, including evening and Saturday banking in many of its branches as well as Sunday hours in select urban branches to better serve those students juggling school and a part-time job. CIBC clients also have access to more than 3,700 automated bank machines, and 24/7 service over the phone and on Canada's leading online banking site, www.cibc.com. Students will also benefit from financial advice available from CIBC branches across Canada, an important building block for students who may be taking ownership of their finances for the first time. "It's never too early to start getting sound financial advice," commented Delaney. "Whether it's advice on building your credit rating, or saving for a short term goal, a CIBC advisor can assist students in making informed financial decisions now while building a solid foundation for life after school." Existing CIBC clients who already hold an account under the CIBC Advantage® for Students offer will automatically benefit from the introduction of free everyday banking on their account as of June 1, 2008. Students who want to experience free everyday banking with CIBC can visit a CIBC branch, call CIBC Telephone Banking at 1-800-465-CIBC, or learn more by visiting www.cibc.com. Students under the age of 19 continue to be eligible for CIBC's Advantage® for Youth offer which includes free everyday banking, and other features. CIBC is a leading North American financial institution with nearly 11 million personal banking and business clients.
