The John McGivney Children's Centre breaks ground with help from CIBC
WINDSOR, ON, Nov. 5 /CNW/ - CIBC (CM: TSX; NYSE) - Today, the CIBC World Markets Children's Foundation announced a $250,000 donation to the John McGivney Children's Centre expansion at the official ground breaking ceremony. "At CIBC we are very proud to be able to make this contribution to the John McGivney Children's Centre expansion," said Peter Lee, CIBC Wood Gundy Regional Director for Eastern Canada. "Many of us have seen the life changing difference the Centre makes to children in the Windsor-Essex community. The new facility will allow even more children to have access to the services they need for a brighter future." Since 1984, the CIBC World Markets Children's Foundation has raised $41 million for children in communities across Canada. On December 3, 2008, CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors and CIBC World Markets trading employees will once again donate their fees and commissions to children's charities as part of Miracle Day. "This is such an exciting day for the Centre and the community," said Arla Peters, Board President of the John McGivney Children's Centre. "As a result of the generosity of the CIBC World Markets Children's Foundation, the Centre will be able to grow and serve more children in our new facility. "The Board, staff and families of the John McGivney Children's Centre thank the CIBC World Markets Children's Foundation for this donation." "When I learned about the tremendous work being done at the Centre, I knew I had to get involved," said Darren Luck, First Vice-President and Investment Advisor, CIBC Wood Gundy and board member of the Rotary Foundation of Windsor. "Each year my colleagues and I are honoured to be able to do our part for our leaders of tomorrow. CIBC's $250,000 donation to the Centre's expansion is just one example of the power of Miracle Day." Each year 2,100 children are served at the Centre. The new John McGivney facility will continue to provide comprehensive services, including assessment, treatment, consultation, design and provisions of assistive devices, education and family services within a multidisciplinary setting. On the first Wednesday of December every year, CIBC World Markets sales and trading professionals and CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors help make a difference for children across the country. On this day, fees and commissions are donated to support charities dedicated to improving the health, well-being and education of children. Since its inception in 1984, more than $190 million has been raised to benefit children in our communities globally.
