CIBC voted Canada's Best Consumer Internet Bank and Best Online Consumer
Credit Site by Global Finance magazineTORONTO, Aug. 4 /CNW/ - CIBC (CM: TSX;NYSE) was again voted the "Best
Consumer Internet Bank" in Canada with the "Best Online Consumer Credit Site"
in North America for the second year in a row, according to Global Finance
magazine in its 10th annual "World's Best Internet Banks" competition.
CIBC was recognized in two categories based on the overall strength of
its online banking offerings as well as other factors such as site design,
integration, functionality and success at attracting and serving clients
online.
"Our top rankings in these categories are testament to the strength of
our online banking capabilities and our ongoing focus on providing clients
with the best online service possible," said Christina Kramer, Executive
Vice-President, Distribution Services for CIBC Retail Markets.
A number of enhancements were made to www.cibc.com in 2009, including an
industry-leading online bill payment centre which rolled out in March,
enabling clients to pay up to 25 different bills at once. Improvements were
also made to increase the level of client customization and integration
available and provide seamless client support.
"More and more of our clients choose to bank online regularly with us
because they enjoy the convenience of accessing their accounts from anywhere
at any time," said Kramer. "Winning these awards from Global Finance again
this year demonstrates our commitment to creating an unparalleled online
banking experience for our clients."
"In less than a decade, the Internet has transformed the way many
consumers and most businesses bank," says Joseph D. Giarraputo, Publisher of
Global Finance. "The continuing improvements in online offerings represented
by this year's entries show that more significant Internet banking
developments are still ahead of us."
In addition to online banking, CIBC clients also benefit from access to
1060 branches and more than 3700 automated bank machines across Canada and can
choose to bank 24/7 over the phone.
