Attention Newcomers: Get a head start with free Facts & Finance™ seminars

VANCOUVER, Sept. 16 /CNW/ - For newcomers settling in Metropolitan Vancouver, CIBC and the YMCA are offering Facts & Finance™ seminars this fall designed to provide the advice and information newcomers need to make informed decisions about financial services in Canada. Free seminars on Banking in Canada, Starting your own business, and Teaching your children about money are being conducted at three (3) YMCA locations: downtown Vancouver, Surrey and Chilliwack.

Banking in Canada: Learn about building a credit history, saving and investing in Canada. You will get an overview of banking in Canada, your rights, how your money is protected, and the options available to you as a consumer. You will also learn about opening an account, credit and loans, ways to bank, investments, products and services, insurance and advice.

Teaching your children about money: Children need knowledge and practice to become money smart and starting young will help them achieve that. In two hours, you will learn helpful tips to teach your children the value of money and how to save for their education. You will discuss children's allowances, spending plans, choosing a bank, advanced money ideas, getting a job, and saving for your child's education.
