CIBC announces $25,000 contribution to assist victims of flooding in Manitoba

WINNIPEG, May 11 /CNW/ - CIBC announced today it is donating $25,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to help relief efforts following the flooding in Manitoba.

CIBC is directing its donation to the Canadian Red Cross to support recovery efforts now and in the coming months as the water in some communities is expected to remain high into June, leaving some evacuated families with an income for weeks.  For others, livelihoods may be destroyed altogether.

CIBC's branches across the country will also be joining in the relief effort by collecting donations for the Canadian Red Cross.

CIBC clients directly affected by the flooding have options available to them regarding their mortgage payments and credit products, and should contact CIBC with any concerns or questions they have.

"The people of Manitoba need our help and assistance as they recover from this disaster," said Gerry McCaughey, President and CEO of CIBC. "We are joining our clients and employees as well as others across Canada in supporting the relief efforts to provide for the needs of so many who have been affected by the floods."
