Movie screenings, music, dance and free tickets to the June 25 Awards Show highlight CIBC's June IIFA celebrations
TORONTO, May 30 2011 /CNW/ - CIBC (TSX: CM) (NYSE: CM) - A weekend celebrating Indian cinema featuring top-ranked Indian musicians and dancers; ten outdoor movie screenings of 2011 IIFA-nominated films; free tickets to the June 25 awards show; the public finale of CIBC's Bollywood Moves dance contest; and free trips to India highlight CIBC's International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) festivities in June.
"The IIFA Awards in Toronto are less than a month away and we have created a number of events that will give Indian film fans from across the GTA a chance to be part of the magic of Bollywood," says Raza Hasan, CIBC Senior Vice-President. "As presenting sponsor of the 2011 IIFA Awards, CIBC is proud to give Bollywood fans a chance to experience the best in South Asian film, music, dance, fashion and food as we lead up to the biggest show in the city this summer."
On the weekend of June 10 and 11, CIBC will host a festival at Toronto's Yonge-Dundas Square to celebrate the creativity and glamour of Indian cinema. The weekend events will include a screening of the IIFA-nominated movie Dabangg, music performances from leading Indian and Canadian musicians, dance performances by the Shiamak Davar Dance Troupe, a choreographed group dance, and the live finale of the CIBC IIFA Bollywood Moves Dance Competition.
"The family-friendly weekend will give Indian film fans a taste of the excitement the city will experience on awards night," adds Mr. Hasan. "We will have music acts and dancers that have been part of the IIFAs in past years, an open-air screening of one of this year's nominated movies and, of course, the live finale to our own dance competition that will select two people to perform on-stage at the 2011 IIFAs."
In addition to experiencing world-class entertainment, fans at the Yonge-Dundas event will also have the chance to win tickets to the sold-out IIFA Awards Show. In addition, on June 11 there will also be a special draw for two round-trip tickets to India compliments of Air India (Toronto to Delhi).
Throughout the month of June CIBC will also present nine additional Bollywood Under the Stars Movie Nights in partnership with municipalities in various locations across the GTA. These open-air free screenings of 2011 IIFA-nominated movies are part of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Buzz Festival events to be held in Brampton, Markham, Mississauga and Toronto.
At each of the movie screenings, CIBC will also give away a pair of tickets to the sold-out awards show. Fans can visit the CIBC booth to enter their name in the draw. In addition, there will also be a special draw on June 4 for two round-trip tickets to India compliments of Air India (Toronto to Delhi).
At the June 26 screening, there will be a draw for a one year membership to the ROM Governors' Royal Patrons' Circle (RPC) including two RPC membership cards that provide unlimited free admission to the ROM and selected Canadian and U.S. museums.
