TORONTO, Sept. 10, 2013 /CNW/ - CIBC (CM: TSX; NYSE) invites post-secondary students at Waterloo University to buckle up and play a little Human Foosball to kick off the school year and for a chance to win one of five prizes of $5,000 when you sign up for a CIBC student account.

As the Official Canadian Bank of the 2014 FIFA World CupTM in Association with Visa, CIBC is challenging post-secondary students at select colleges and universities in Ontario to show their foosball skills while proudly displaying the flag colours of their FIFA World Cup favourites.

CIBC will host six-on-six human-foosball and regular table foosball events at Waterloo University (Bert Matthews Hall green) in Waterloo, Ont. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT.

"Inspired by the upcoming 2014 FIFA World CupTM, CIBC Human Foosball is a unique opportunity for students to show their soccer skills and engage in the spirit of such a popular and exciting game with their peers," said Veni Iozzo, Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Strategy, CIBC. "These events are a fun way to kick-start another school year, while reminding students that it's important to think about managing your education costs and to be smart about your banking."

Students will also have the chance to engage with talented freestyle soccer players and win great prizes, including:

  • Five prizes of $5,000 to help with tuition costs when signing up for a CIBC student account; and
  • One of three foosball tables by using the hashtag #CIBCHUMANFOOSBALL on Twitter or Instagram.
