CIBC offers assistance to Fort McMurray clients and donates $100,000 to support the Canadian Red Cross

TORONTO, May 4, 2016 /CNW/ - CIBC (TSX: CM) (NYSE: CM) today announced support for clients and employees affected by the wildfire in Fort McMurray and a $100,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross to provide support in the region.

"We want our clients, employees and the residents of Fort McMurray to know that we will support you," said Tom Weber, Senior Vice President and Region Head, Alberta, CIBC. "At a time of concern for you and your family, please know that we're here to help you through this difficult situation."

CIBC will look at ways to support clients, including:

  • Deferring payments on mortgages, loans and credit card bills;
  • Re-amortizing mortgage payments to lower monthly costs; or
  • Crediting client accounts for any fees caused by overdrafts, insufficient funds, early withdrawals on term deposits or use of non-CIBC bank machines; and,
  • Special accommodation for commercial clients affected by the fire.

 

Clients are encouraged to call 1-877-454-9030 to discuss their financial situation and get personalized advice.

CIBC will also be accepting donations at our branches across Canada on behalf of the Canadian Red Cross. Donations can also be made directly to Red Cross online at Alberta Fires Appeal.
