CIBC offers financial relief to clients impacted by British Columbia's wildfires

To support those affected by the fires, CIBC also donates $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross

VANCOUVER, July 11, 2017 /CNW/ - CIBC (TSX: CM) (NYSE: CM) is offering financial relief, advice and support to clients and CIBC team members impacted by the wildfires that continue to spread across British Columbia. CIBC has also donated $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to assist with relief efforts in the province.

"We want everyone to stay safe and know that the last thing you need to worry about right now is your finances," says Mike Stevenson, Senior Vice-President and Region Head, British Columbia and Northern Territories, CIBC. "Our team has put a financial relief program in place to help you get you through this difficult time."

For clients directly affected by this situation, CIBC will look at ways to offer support, including:

  • Special payment arrangements on mortgages, loans and credit card bills
  • Re-amortizing of mortgages (to result in lower payments)
  • Reversing service fees and non-CIBC ATM withdrawal fees
  • Providing access to funds in term deposits, GICs
  • Customized accommodations for commercial clients

Two CIBC Banking Centres in Williams Lake and 100 Mile House have been closed due to an evacuation order and several others are being closely monitored. Regular updates to clients will be posted on social media at www.facebook.com/CIBC and @cibc on Twitter. 

CIBC is accepting donations at Banking Centres across Canada for British Columbia Fires Appeal on behalf of the Canadian Red Cross from Thursday, July 13 until Sunday, August 13. Online donations can also be made at British Columbia Fires Appeal.
