CIBC leads in Canadian Online Banking Functionality Benchmark for fourth consecutive year

According to Forrester, CIBC offers consistently strong self-service tools, plus budgeting and advice services

TORONTO, September 19, 2017 - CIBC (TSX: CM) (NYSE: CM) has earned the top score in Forrester Research Inc’s 2017 Canadian Online Banking Functionality Benchmark report for the fourth year in a row. According to the leading market research company, among six banks CIBC earned the highest overall score in the benchmark and creates value for online banking clients with consistently strong self-service tools, plus budgeting and advice services, all tightly integrated on its secure website.

"We believe this recognition from Forrester is a testament to how we keep our clients at the centre of all our ideation and digital innovation," says Mike Boluch, Executive Vice President, Direct Banking, Innovation & Payments, Client Connectivity, CIBC. "With secure and personalized digital banking a top priority for our clients, we continue to focus on delivering innovative online banking solutions that fit their ever-evolving needs.”

The Forrester report evaluates six Canadian banks’ individual secure websites – across 50 criteria, divided into eight sub-categories – and assesses how effectively they help clients achieve their financial objectives.

CIBC earned among the highest marks in the following sub-categories:

  • Login and security
  • Self-service features
  • eDelivery

Forrester points to CIBC’s easy access to online customer service and valuable account management capabilities. The report also states that CIBC has the clearest guidance to account service functions, by including them as part of its account menu.  Notably, it also recognizes CIBC for doing the most to show how it protects its clients, by providing security and privacy content on its website that is easy to find, which is examined in the first part of the benchmark.

“We’re always looking to make our clients’ banking experiences a seamless part of their lives, and are proud to consistently deliver products and services that help facilitate this vision,” adds Boluch.
