CIBC marks International Women's Day with client events from coast-to-coast

TORONTO, March 8, 2019 /CNW/ - This week CIBC (TSX: CM) (NYSE: CM) hosted over 13,000 clients, guests and employees in events across Canada focused on advancing women's financial health and achieving better economic balance – a key priority of International Women's Day being marked today.

"Women are a growing economic force in Canada and actively taking control of their financial wellbeing in greater numbers," says Christina Kramer, Senior Executive Vice-President & Group Head, Personal and Small Business Banking, CIBC. "We're committed to both celebrating women's success and empowering our clients with the financial support, confidence and tools to help them achieve their ambitions."

As part of community outreach activities this week, there were over 220 events organized by CIBC banking centre teams in rural and urban communities across the country. The seminars led by our teams included expert panelists and covered topics including planning for retirement, investment strategies, and estate planning, with a particular focus on financial strategies for women.

The events were part of the bank's broader initiatives leading up to International Women's Day to raise awareness about women's economic impact and their unique financial challenges. This included a recent CIBC Economics report estimating that women currently control $2.2 trillion of personal financial assets – growing to $3.8 trillion by 2028, and another study revealing that even as women's economic influence grows, many lack confidence when it comes to managing their wealth.

"On a day that celebrates women globally, we're proud to bring Canadians together to share in important conversations to accelerate gender balance and lead to better financial health for everyone," adds Ms. Kramer.
